The Architectural Marvels of Bank Square
Bank Square comprises seven primary structures, each meticulously
crafted to cater to the diverse needs of its 2,500 staff members. The
design integrates world-class amenities to foster an environment of
productivity, comfort, and sustainability. Here’s a closer look at its
standout features:
- The Amenity Pavilion: A six-story marvel, the Amenity Pavilion
houses a currency museum, state-of-the-art conference
centres, press facilities, an auditorium, and a stunning rooftop
terrace. This multifunctional space ensures a perfect blend of
utility and elegance. - The Urban Block: At nine stories tall, the Urban Block’s expansive
floor plates accommodate corporate departments and wellness-
focused amenities. Staff can enjoy office spaces complemented
by facilities such as a cafeteria, lecture rooms, computer labs, a
nursery, breakout areas, and a medical centre, promoting a well-
rounded work-life balance.
- The Podium: This five-story structure (two above ground and
three underground) offers secure parking and houses the majority of the
project’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Its
landscaped rooftop seamlessly connects to the pedestrian lobbies of
the Tower and Urban Block, merging functionality with aesthetic
charm. - The Tower: Rising 22 stories above the ground, the Tower is the
centrepiece of Bank Square. It features staff workspaces, meeting
rooms, VIP areas, and dedicated prayer rooms for Muslims and
Christian employees. The Tower’s iconic design makes it a standout
feature in Accra’s skyline. - The Banking Hall: A double-volume structure, the Banking Hall
serves as the operational hub, complete with back-office services
and cutting-edge facilities to cater to the Bank’s customers. - The Energy Farm: This one-story structure is home to the
equipment powering the entire development, underscoring the
project’s focus on self-sustainability. - The Grand Pavilion: A symbol of elegance and wellness, the Grand
The pavilion is the main welcome feature of Bank Square. Its grand
staircase, comprising 41 meticulously designed steps, is both
functional and visually striking, offering visitors a sense of majesty.
Setting Precedent in Sustainability
Bank Square is more than a state-of-the-art office complex; it is a
beacon of environmental responsibility. The solar canopy above the
Urban Block not only provides shade but also harnesses solar energy
to power the entire building below it, making the Urban Block the
largest solar canopy office building in Ghana. Additional eco-friendly
features in the facility include:
- UV-protected glass facades that maximize natural sunlight while
reducing heat. - Energy-efficient sensor lighting systems.
- Rainwater harvesting and advanced sewage systems.
- Firefighting and evacuation systems are designed to meet stringent
safety standards.
The use of self-cleaning natural stones and adherence to both local
and international environmental certifications further emphasize the
project’s commitment to sustainability and longevity.
A Legacy of Excellence
The completion of Bank Square represents a significant milestone for
Goldkey Properties and Ghana’s architectural landscape. With its
innovative design, sustainable practices, and focus on employee
wellness, Bank Square is not just a building but a testament to what
can be achieved when ambition meets expertise. It stands tall as a
symbol of progress and a local source of pride for all involved in its
Creation.
